Hysteer Steering Stabilizer question??
« on: Aug 12, 2006, 09:50:08 PM »
I started tearing my truck apart this weekend to do my hysteer. I took the rancho steering stabilizer off that I had on. My question is will this one work for my new setup if I fab the brackets? What is the travel of the one Marlin sells for $80 bucks?

DOn't know anything bout no stabilizers, my advice:
Get the steering installed and adjusted properly and decide if you even need the stabilizer...I don't run one and I don't think I have any cause to put one on.  The cross over is a big improvement over the push pull, add in the nice new tie rods, etc.  The difference will be noticable.
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

As long as you can fab the brackets, you should be fine.  The travel of the stabilizer doesn't matter, as the travel of the knuckles, and therefore the tie rod do not change.

so hysteer conversion improves steering on what aspects?

aside from improved ground clearance...

responsiveness?
bumpsteer reduction/elimination?

I wouldn't say totally eliminates bumpsteer.  I've got slight bumpsteer after my sas.

OK, So if you hit a bump, on or off road your tires will wont to turn on there own. Now for brake steer that is when you hit your brakes it will pull slightly to one side inturn it will case your steering to wont to turn in the direction of the brake that is grabbing more. the stabilizer is more of a dampener, it lessens the likelihood of thous to happening. Hope that helps

I will check on this. It is decent, like 10" or so, I remember it is longer than it seems. I'll measure it and add the info to the webpage too
