Alpha's Dove-nose and Exo Buildup
« on: Aug 11, 2006, 12:02:14 AM »
First off I have to thank RockDiver for all the help with the exo.  If it weren't for him it would have been a long time before I could have gotten an exo, and I couldn't be happier with the way it came out.

Well I finally attempted the Little Sluice about two months and made it, twice in one day but not without some body damage.

So I thought about it for about two minutes and decided to dove-nose it.  I cut 6" pieces on both sides of the front clip between the headlight and radiator.  I found out that stick welders don't weld sheet metal very well so I will be cleaning it up next time I get up to RockDiver's.

I put the fenders on and there seems to be about 4 inches of space between the fender and the front clip so I got a little too friendly with the cut off wheel.

I trimmed the hood and installed some hood pins.  Me and Rockdiver also got the hoop around the cab done, the bars to run down to the flatbed and the halo above the cab.  All the tube is HREW 1.75" with the X on top and behind the cab out of HREW 1.5".

I moved out of my house so all work from this point on was at Rockdivers.  We got one fender bar finished.  I am glad I dove-nosed it because now I will be able to climb a tree or wall or whatever I feel like.   :gap:

We finished it for now last weekend but I was too tired to take any pics between saturday and sunday so here are the finished pics for now.  I want to add some bracing in certain places as well as one more piece in front of the doors.  I am also considering getting some more fenders and seeing how they would look on here with the exo, dunno yet though.

I will post up some more pics as soon as some progress is made.

thanks, yah I want to get some fenders just to check it out.  I'll ask Rockdiver how much tube we used on that hoop, that was first experience with tube bending.
