Ideas to make pickup carry more people
« on: Jul 14, 2006, 01:17:21 PM »
I have a nicley equipped pickup taht I wheel. I can fit my wife and kid in there, but its tight, and i have another kid on the way in september. I bought a 4 runner carcass to maybe build, but oh man does it need work. It has nothing. But on the trails this weekend I ran into a ford ranger that had the back cab cutt off and a seat added into the rear (no Bed either). Im thinking this might be the direction im looking for.

My question is how should this be done with a toyota pickup. Im looking to see pics of sombodys build to get more ideas and advice.

I would like to keep most of cab, doors, roof. Exo cage that portion and tube it out in rear, maybe a soft top to stay out of elements. what do think?????????

Don't think you would want to do this but it was funny as hell. Please note that their grab bar is a piece of  angle iron, fortunatly they did still have all their fingers after it rolled......

I've seen a lot of people transform a 2nd gen shortbed truck into a 4runner. All they so is cut out the back of the cab, bolt in some seats (dodge caravan or something. and toss on a shell.  Pretty simple

Thats what im wanting to see. Thats a nice rig. Im pretty sure that im going to go this route, I will probably leave more of the cab than this rig did but the same idea. That looks like a fuel cell in the back, im hoping to just leave the stock tank in stock location and maybe build around it. Not sure what everything will look like untill bed is off. from the looks of it, the tank sits higher than the frame rails, might have to move it or get a cell anyways we'll see
