the hole in your inner fender ??   from the shock bottoming out and pushing the tower over

you need shock hoops or a modified shock tower

Won't be long before you rip that shock tower off. It will usually take a good chunk of the frame with it. Basically what is happening is your shocks are bottoming on that tower causing it to flex, it will keep twisting until it breaks free. The other side will eventually start doing the same thing as it weakens from the flex.

I was thinking the body was dipping... is that a abstract theory?

There could be a little body flex invloved but not likely that much. Do this so you are certain as to the problem. 1st cut those stupid boots off, next take a tiewrap and attach it to the exposed rod right at the end of the can, now take it out on a run and see what happens to the tiewrap. If it gets smashed or completly disapears you know your shocks are bottoming. You may be able to tell just by cutting the boots off if you can see a dirt line on the rod. If it is 100% shinny it is bottoming.

Looks like the top of the shock is not tight enough      tighten the nut on the top to pull the bushings on the shock down a little

I've had them get loose and they rattle like crazy. He didn't say anything about any noise. They could be a little loose but not bad.

Just grab the shocks and push them around, if you can move them easily in their mounts then they are loose if not they are tight.

Tighten that nut down!  It's barely on there!  I used to put shocks on at Les Schwab.  Tighten it up, till the rubber bushing has flattened out to slightly larger than the metal washer!
