finally done with the bedliner
« on: Jul 09, 2006, 12:38:35 PM »
after doing a little reading here and a few other places, about diy bedliners it seamed that people had best luck with the duraback. so i ordered myself a gallon and began chipping out all the old carpet glue. well with a combination of a putty knife and mallot, wire wheel, and acetone, i finally got it out 3 days later. the duraback came in, in good time. and was fairly easy to spread. here's some photos...

i'm happy with the results, and if you're thinking about doing similar, just be prepared for a couple long nights getting all that glue crap out.

It came out great...but where are the rust holes int he floorboards?  Doesn't your truck have rust?
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

How does that stuff clean up once it gets some mud in it? And does it compair to say a lineX like as in thickness and texture? I always thought the diy liner was much thinner and rough, less rubber like?

seams to clean up pretty well. and you can lay that stuff on as thick as you want. it is more rough. esp the strip i did on the back tailgate where it was the bottom of the can. but all in all it's pretty close.

Nice job.  I got caught in a thunder storm without a top yesterday and am leaning toward this myself. I'm tired of the wet dog smell.  :)

Looks good. How much was the Duraback? Where did you get it?

if you where refering to the tar thats on the floors go down and get some dry ice and set it on the tar let it sit for a little bit then get underneath the truck and start hitting the bottom of the floor with a hammer you dont have to beat the crap out of it, and the tar will usualy just break and come up in peaces
