Well, we got back last night around 10:30 PM  We did the Seattle tour after leaving the ship in the morning. Then after waiting 4-1/2 hours at the airport, the plane was an hour late. Shannon slept from about 3 minuties after sitting on the plane till 8 this morning. She was up for an hour at the airport and ran upstairs to bed when we got home.

What a week!! too much fun I tell ya.  I have gone through most of the pics almost 4 gig!! I do have one now though. More to come later. I had 50 minutes of internet on the ship. I paid 32 bucks for that! It took me about 12 minutes to figure out they really did nor support firefox that well at all.

This puppy is about 300 feet tall. A few years ago there was a fresh water lake behind this opening. One day it broke open as the glacier receded. It was 100 or 200 feet of water deep and when it went, all the ice in froint was pushed along. I am glad we weren't there.....

The calving was real active, this one was pretty big.

So for reference this splash is over 150 feet :yikes: enough to wet the top decks of the ship if we were close enough. I heard they used to get close, but due to some biggies rocking the ship, not anymore.................. I would guess we were about 1/4 mile from the glacier.

This is from the top of the tram we took in Juneua. It is run by a native tribe there. The dock we were at is also native owned.

Well we did have a FIRE the first night. about 5 Am Captain came on and announced a fire in the incinerator room. Not in the incinerator I suspect. Some rags had caught fire and were extinguished pretty quickly.

Friends of ours took a cruise through the carribean (sp?) on the largest cruise ship at the time a couple years ago.  They said they had fun except for the part where the hurricane was directly in their path.  And the capt. decided that the ship was big enough to handle it!  Well, our friends said that was like riding in a small charter boat with 12' swells.  Nobody was happy.  Everybody was sick, including all the staff.  They said there was hardly any food out cause all the cooks were sick too!  Glad you had a great time!  I would like to go to Alaska and visit, but I think we would just drive up.  I would love to see the Aleutian chain, cause my grandpa served the first part of wwII on Adak Island!
