Quick yota general info.
« on: Jun 11, 2006, 01:35:56 PM »
I am SASing my nissan pathfinder, The nissan steering box is trashed and I want to use a Yota box and pump so I can do the ram assist thing and well because I already have the parts. The pittman arm on my 89 IFS box appears to have like a TRE built into it, I need to drill a 5/8 hole for a heim. I have seen people use stock looking arms over on Pirate but no mention of what they used. A friend with a built yota said something about cutting off the end of the pittman and putting a piece of tube over it and notching it for the heim. I cant visualize what he is talking about and I couldnt find a pic of anything like it. So any suggestions, is there another model arm I should buy or do I need to just try and get a new one from marlin?

Other question
I have 2 from d-shafts and I need to know how many degrees the CV is good for. One is an 83 and the other is an 89.

Thanks

Are you going to use a Heim joint setup vs. the TRE that comes with the cross over steering kit?  If you just want to remove that TRE you can but it isn't easy.  I have done it and all I remember is alot of hammering, prying, and drilling.

I am doing a SAS on a nissan, I dont have a "kit"  Even if I got that joint out, would I be able to use this pittman with a heim? I was starting to think that the hole would be much bigger than the 5/8 that I need.

Yeah the hole is pretty big once you get that TRE out of there.  Hmmm...Could you use a FJ80 TRE?  If you could then you could get a new arm from marlin and order 1 TRE for it.  I think it would be difficult to find something to fit snug in there that you could drill to 5/8".
