leaf springs with air shocks???

this souned good in my head.

what would stop some one from setting up a leaf spring rig with most of the leafs removed paired with something like the fox air shock???

other that the cost of fox air shocks? and mabey the on-road feeling of driving a magic carpet

shocks arent designed to support the weight of a vehicle.... they ahve airbags for big trucks, but those are a whole different ballgame

what about all those high dollor tube buggies with 3/4 links and airshocks?

YES the air shocks will support a truck,  the also make small airbags for pickups,  and you could even get the airbags  bigrigs use under the cab  so the cab also rides on air,

But the shocks are NOT made to locate an axle and a leaf spring with too few leaves will also NOT be able to locate the axle.  First time you hit the gas the axle will wrap like crazy and bend the hell out of your bling air shocks.

yep.. and then you gotta make a traction bar.. and by the time yer done you could have just 4linked the truck.

#1 airshocks are intended for linked setups, not springs... definently wouldn't work.

I would imagine it would be extremely stiff too because the airshocks are designed to hold the weight of the vehicle on their own. Then you throw a leaf on top of it.. pretty stiff ride.

you COULD use them as a conventional gas type shock  but you would have to valve them so low.. ive seen this done on rigs that are waiting for money to finish linking their truck..  basicly they just get the shocks in place and get all the binding issues out of the way  then toss the links on.

at the hammers I saw a buggy with thin single leaf springs to hold the truck laterally and then airshoxs to hold the truck up and two link on top of the axle to the frame like the uppers on  a dual triangulated 4link.  I think he was confused but it looked like it worked
