22re question.
« on: Jun 06, 2006, 08:44:48 PM »
Is there an easy way to tell what year a block was made, or about what year?    Also, the bore of a 22r is 3.62 inches, the motor I picked up is 3.623. Is that exceptable? There is no ridge on the cylinder walls, though I can no longer see any hone marks. All I want is a motor than runs well and has O.k. power and doesn't smoke.  I can barely do 55 ona flat road and forget about hills or any incline for that matter. Thanks for the help. :beerchug:

I called my local Toy dealer and gave 'em the block number.  All they could tell me was it was pre-85, and that before 85 they didn't keep very good records of the block numbers.

Or you could PM reklund and see if he could run it for you.

AERA allows up to .007 of wear on a re-ring with CAST IRON rings the sounds good to me.....if your running it as is...run it....if not....re-ring it make sure you run cast rings tho? just my opinion
Sand, what fun, drop pressure to 12psi, stock tires are still digging, can't afford to get stuck, 8psi, still not working. Find a place to GET OUT, air up, un-lock hubs,  WAIT whats this, hubs are UN-LOCKED already. 2wd, 8psi, stock tires, Oregon sand dunes.

Heck, I would probably have it honed & re-ring it. I would probably do the crank bearings/bushings & rod bearings at the same time. I have seen many a rod knock in Toyota 4 cylinders.

See, that is what I told him too, but nooo, he has to ask everyone else.  I've got the hone, so when you want to do it Tice?
