im using a Miller 175 with .30 hard wire. It seems to work pretty good

I saw this on Pirate, it looks great.  What are you cutting with OA or plasma?
That is what is really holding me back right now, cutting with a cut off wheel and grinder takes forever.
And where did you pick up that wicked tire-grooving chainsaw wannabe blade?

I use zip cut and grinder most of the time but i use the OA for the tuff stuff.............and yes it takes for ever LOL

i am glad sombody on here can weld. i have spent my entire high school dedicated to welding and maching. not to put anyone down but i cant stand looking at ugly welds and hack jobs. i know that there is plentty of rigs out there that work better than mine right now but a rig with pretty welds is just damn sexy.

i agree 100%. I'm a good welder only because of practice. And a little bit of watching the old timers at work. I have no problem people treing to learn how to fab there own stuff up, but for god sakes dont practice on your truck. Because id hate to get a phone call sayin my mom was killed by a guy that did some home brew scab welds on his truck that let go at 85mph. So if your not sure what your doing go grab a book and a bunch of scrap steal from the welding shop down the street and start learning to weld before something bad happends.

Well ive been dog-in it lately....but i got the back almost done. Everything but the tailgate.

I hate D-rings that are clanking off the bumper every two seconds so i tightend them up a bit




Welded up the rear 3rd with a peace of 3/8 plate. It much cleaner and easier to weld. ( NOTE: i wouldnt do this for the front 3rd.........we have, and it took hours to fix. The inners splines seem to fit into the 3rd a bit further than the rear so the knuckles didnt fit on properly........so a hole saw was required to shave down the plates that were in the way  . Needless to say it wasnt fun)


I went and picked up some beefy tube for my rear shaft...........its going to require a bit of watch work and a lath but im sure we can make it work




And now for the fun part  ...........Diff straightening time.
I cut off the bottom truss to have a better look and i couldn't believe how bent it was   It was out a 1/4 in 8inches


So Mr.Torch and the come along came out to play

I welded the short side to a peace of HSS and down to my welding table. The put a jack stand just on the left hand side of the bend. I then tighten the come along to were the housing looked straight . Then proceeded to use the torch on the bent side of the housing. I then used a damp rag right were i was heating it up with the torch so it would shrink. It worked pretty good but the housing had a major bend so might need to put a few relief cuts in the housing with the zip cut to allow the housing to me bent back into shape.

Its been awhile from the last up date. I just thought id show the almost finished product 

well i dont get my ERW until Friday now so i bolted up my bead locks and got my tires on the unit  ;D

I wasnt sure if i was going to like the width with the 2.5 BS rims and spacers but it turned out pretty nice. Im glad i went with the 8 inch rims with the bead locks because it works out to a 9 inch rim after the tire sits on the out side of the bead.

Hows that traction bar working out? Thats a uniqe way of seting one up.  First time i have seen one like that.

The track bar is buy far the best way to go............ I cant say any bad things about it.  It acts as a anti squat bar as well ...................a normal trac bar doesnt provide.  I tried on many ocations to get the ass end to hop and its danm neer imposable. 

And as for the tires they are 36 TSL's

Can you write up everything you used to fab the trac bar up. I might want to make one myself....instead of the ladder style bar i was going to make

Here's the front bumper done .......for now   I must say i wouldnt go this route again with all the bends and floppin' around. But im glad i did just once ;D
