So im starting to accumlate the parts for my dual case set up.  For the front case/crawl box im planning on using a forward shift t/case with a topshift conversion done to it.  Then a 23 spline dual case adapter to an 86 topshift case with 4.7 gears, 23 spline shaft, and twin stick.  My question is this, can i use the shifter from the 86 case on the forward shift conversion and just buy the forks/rails or do i still need to get the entire kit?  Also are there any other glaring problems with the setup i plan to use?

"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike

I don't know 100% but I'm gonna say yes. Why not just keep trying to find a top shift in the junk yard though?
