Does anyone know the size and pitch of the ring gear bolts on a V6 diff? I think it's M12x1.00, but I'd like some confirmation before I pay for a new tool. I think my Torque wrench must've gone 'round the bend. I made it through the first and 2nd torques, the wrench clicked and everything...no clicky at 70 and I stripped the threads of a bolt. Now I need the size so I can see if I can find a re-threader or at least a tap. Why are those bolts so soft?
Thanks,
Mark

I have enough bolts...I just need to clean the threads up in the ring gear.

I thought that's what they looked like. I'm using the bolts that came with the install kit...minus 1!

No thanks...I'll hit the dealer tomorrow. I'm just a little miffed at my torque wrench. I think I'll go back to Sears and see what the policy is on wrenches.
Thanks again,
Mark

What brand of gears did you get?

Idid the same thing to a set of genuine gears.

How sure are you about the torque specs?

Actually...I'm a birthday pie kinda guy! Ever since I was a kid it's been banana cream pie for my b-day. Unfortunately, since I had the surgery on my knees I've become...how shall I say it? Abundant. Yes, that works! I got a rain check on the pie from my mom. 'Cause I can fall through a fresh 'naner cream pie like Sherman through Atlanta and I just couldn't see it...until I lose some mass.

BTW, my momma makes some killer pies!

The gears are factory 4.88s.

I just think that I went too close to the max on the torque wrench (only 75lbs.). I've heard before that you shouldn't use the extreme upper on a torque wrench, maybe I was too close or maybe it's just toast. I had loaned a bigger wrench to one of my buddies. Everywhere I read...FSM, Yukon install guide, etc. said either 70 or 71 lb/ft. I was going to use 70. I'll just clean the threads out, they're not boogered up, just the one has some bolt left in it.
Mark

a quick aside...the spell check doesn't  like the phrase "boogered up"! Must be a Yankee!
