I need to know which of theese SAS kits would be the best..

Marlin Crawler

Trail Gear

Sky Manufaturing

There all pretty complete kits, trailgear being the most cause it comes with the gusets and axle rebuild kits, but which one would wheel the best after i did my swap? thats my most worry.. does any one know which company would have the better springs for a 5 inch lift???

Thanks alot
Chris

I was leaning towards the trail gear kit because it comes with more parts and is about $400  cheaper.. but i started to think their springs would be too stiff trying to get lift..

Well you are asking this on a Marlin board and to be fair here you will get the best service from Marlin Crawler. The trail gear stuff is a spin off of Marlins, but you may not get the same after the sale service.

The taste of poor service will stick around longer than the joy of a cheap price.

I know nothing about Sky.

I've bought a couple of odd parts from Sky, seemed to be good quality. What I don't like about them, and this is just a personal niggle, is they don't seem to come up with anything original...they just copy.

I feel like I'm beating the same old drum, but it's still true. As far as customer service you will not find a better company to deal with in the 4x4 world, than Marlin's...period!

Marlin's stuff is tried and true.  I have heard thatthey use the same distributor that Marlin does, so its the same parts, but I dunno how far that goes.

I don't know how trail gear does their customer service, but I know that you will find all the help you need with marlincrawler

I'm going with Marlin when I do my SAS, at least the parts I don't make myself.  I've dealt with them a few times before, and they've always had good customer service.

Yea i think ill just use marlin then, cause ive only heard good about them. the only reason i thought the trail gear kit might be good is cause they come with a axle gusset, diff armor, and axle rebuild kits. but your right i would rather go with who i trust and spend the extra for the other stuff..

Thanks alot!!

I know TG is cheaper but I'm not sure about their customer service :dunno: Someone told me that the parts are supplied from the same company, Di-pro. Is there any truth to this? Though I also heard that some of TG's parts are from different suppliers (much cheaper product), like the sliders, for instance, which appear to be the same product. I'm thoroughly cornfused. Though for something like a SAS kit, I would definitely go with a company with renowned customer service which would be marlin.

Not to sound treasonous, but Marlins kit and Trail Gears kit are practically identical besides TG's extra parts and Marlins springs. You won't have any issues with Trail Gear parts failing or anything, although Marlins US springs are better than what you get with TG. Also, I have seen TG making quite an effort to gain a Marlin-like reputation for customer service. Obviously it isn't matched, but I have seen them do things like replace a crossmember that some one had all ready taken a grinder to because it wouldn't fit their setup. I know that Trail Gear will have some negative light in the dedicated Marlin crowd for obvious reasons, but I think you should give TG a chance and save some cash to buy your drivetrain from Marlin.

Also remeber TG is doing free S/H right now, which depending where you live can be a huge deal.

I beat the piss out of my T-G 4" springs with no problems. I have a set of T-G 5" I am going to try out because I was told they are softer than the 4". Ive never owned Marlins springs. I have been dealing with Marlin since the mid 90's and have always had a good experience. I don't think you will go wrong with either company, they will both do what ever it takes to make you happy. I don't know about all the "stuff" that went on between Marlin and T-G so I don't even make it a consideration when I need something. Go with what works best for you.

I noticed the all pro kit didn't make your list. I'm not endorsing them because I have no experience with them but I was wondering why they missed your list.
