I had the front diff upgraded to 4:88 because im running 35's but im not sure what brand was put in. Now im ready to do the rear but im pondering on which company would be best to go with since i have the electric rear locker?

yotaboy79

yukon  ill never get any thing else

jimbo74

you are running 4.88s in front and 4,10s in the rear? jsut dont use 4x4.....

as far as gears go, yukons seem to be the favorite of everyone, and genuine gear, although cheaper, suck

umm.. yea how are you running 410's in the rear and 488's up front?  Like Jim said, hope you dont use 4 wheel drive. 410's wont affect anything but if you want your rig geared down and those tires to spin under 22r (re) power then you'll have to run a lower gear set.

Yukon's a good brand. Dont get superior, they're re-manufactured junk.

I run Yukon 5.29's with 33's for the street and 37's for the trails. I recommend 5.29's.

81yota, how does your truck do on the street with 529s and 33s? Can it handle highway speeds without too much fuss?
'82 on 35's, not much else.

Before I new what I was doing (as if I do now)  I went down to my local 4x shop and told them I wanted some gears. The guy convinced me to go with 4.88,s witch I did. Thy sold me Sierra gears witch I haven't herd much about. But I haven't had any trouble.                                                 knowing what I do know Id,v gone with the 5.29 yukons.

However I run down the flat freeway in 5th at 65-70 mph with 35's

You can go through life being scared of the possible, or you can have a little fun and tease the inevitable.

Give a man venison, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to hunt Blacktail, he'll be frustrated for life!
