People running winches/lights/etc with the stock 22r alternator, will a good battery - optima or oddessy or the like- be enough, or is everyone upgrading to duals?

stay away from optima red tops..  the yellow/blues are a little better but i  have been around alot of bad optimas..

running a winch id run  duals..  you can get a switch from a boat shop for like 10-15  bucks  and they are pretty simple to wire up.

I ran a red top optima for around 5-6 years of hard abuse w/ the winch and it gave me no problems what so ever. Actually saved my butt ALOT of times.. I'd go red or yellow top.

 :twocents:

Btw blue top's are water proof marine batterys. Little more $$$

I have for years run them together. The problem is, if one fails, it takes them both down. I just finished a marine 300 amp switch install. I like it.

Oh yeah, deep cell all the way. Pick your brand. Don't use a starter battery, they are designed to give all their power up front to start the engine. A deep cell will give less power over longer time.

Ya i am gonna run dual batterys with a continious duty solenoid to be able to seperate the two when runnning the winch or leave the two when needed, by use of a switch. I was thinkin deep cycle battery.
