I am planning on taking the big white beast out to the 'Con for its virgin run since the SAS for the memorial day weekend. I even convinced the ol lady to take the time off and come with me. Not exact on the dates but I may try to head up there Friday evening or Saterday morning. Guess I better think bout some rock lights.

Who wants to join me? I have only been through the 'Con once and I was riding right seat so it would be cool to have some vets out there too. My duals will be installed this weekend and I am ordering beadlocks today so they should be in by then (better be :tantrum:) Lemme know who wants to join in and we can set up a meeting time and place. Oh and I'll have plenty of

I don't expect there to be tomany people since there will still be a bunch of snow up there.  Last year was like a normal weekend.  Not tomany people up there and not a big crowd at little sluice since there was about 4 feet of snow in it.  the drive in wasn't that great, we left Georgetown at about 10:30-11:00pm.  got tot the trailhead about 12:00.  Got to Spider about 6:00am.  Thats right, 6 hours when it should have only been 3 at the most.  No one was infront of us.  It was the snow that caught us off guard.  I won't be there this year, a little too cold.

repost from the June 11 thread :sad2:

QuoteFriends of the Rubicon are once again recommending staying off the trail during the high melt period and the short time after when the trail is the wettest without snow on it. This includes MD weekend and probably the first few days of june too.

If you do choose to go please remember to TREAD SMARTLY The means not only tread lightly but know when to put the hammer down and when to take it easy. The Sierras are a sensitive ecosystem, the harsh conditions cause things to grow slowly. A tree that looks 10 years old could be more like 100.

When the dirt is still wet from snow melt, it breaks up faster. This last weekend I was at Loon Lake and saw 4-6 feet of snow with drifts up to almost 8 feet. At 70 degrees it "can" melt a foot a day. There has not been a 70 day yet. It was about 60-61 on Sunday. Sac is forecast to be in the 70s for several days meaning the high country is going to be 10-20 degrees cooler.
