Weld it, or Aussie.
Just keep an eye on your hub gears, they are longs killers.

because they ARENT the strongest.. detroits bust all the time. ESPECIALLY in toyotas.. you break any shaft and the locker is toast from the shock load.  plus if you do any street driving they are extremely unpredictable.

like ironclad said  full detroits  ARE NOT  good for toyotas,  it the front the break easy , and in the rear  you might as well have a spool

not to mention $500

ARB's is always my first choice, but if you can't afford them then at least the elec lockers. After that would be your choice of ratcheting lockers.

I ran detroit in the rear and lockrite up front for YEARS, never had a single problem.. the lockrite would bind once in awhile and make a pop that sounded like the frontend just blew up but absolutely nothing wrong.

Quote
you might as well have a spool not to mention

You've obviously never actually ran a spool if you're trying to compare it to a detroit. As i've said once and i'll say again... I stand behind Detroits, they're strong and I have yet to see one break.. I abused the living SHIET out of mine and it never got close to giving an inch. I've seen a handful of ARB's blow up, or cut a line on the trail = worthless... or a compressor that goes out.. there's just to much crap to go wrong the more stuff that locker has to rely on to work the more you'll find yourself without a working locker!

ARB spool or weld it. Dont like the crappiness of my aussie and hate my friends lockrite. Mine never really even unlocks on turns either (well it does a lot of clicking and making my whoe truck jar back and forwards) but a welded or spool'd is always the same thing and you dont need to worry about it popin on a turn and making you go into the other lane.
RIP Kyota.... you are the man
