I just finished trimming the front fenders of my truck and am now looking at the other end of my truck. I've been looking at it and have noticed that it may weaken the mounts for my tail-gate. Anyone that has done this mod please show me what you did and what if anything you did to make the tail-gate mounts not fold under, or if it was even an issue.

Thanks in advance

It's better than letting it get all chewed up, I'm slowly but surely bending everything on the bottom side.

it will weaken the spot where the tailgait mounts to the bed i cut mine and it bent that spot when i was dragging a huge hydrolic resavwar, pump, and motor into my bed probably about 500 lbs i made two little ramps out of angle iron and layed them on the tailgait then hooked a come along to the back of the cage and dragged it up, my tail gait was never the same again

I was afraid of that, I may have to figure something out there. Maybe a brace across the back from the frame and have the hinge bolt to it from behind to keep it stable.

I would be running the bumper I have in mind along the edge of the bottom of the bed and those pieces that hang down will get in the way.

That's too open I sleep in the back instead of pitching a tent.

if you arent carrying any major weight in the back it should be fine, i still use my truck to hual stuff quite often with the gate down and it hasnt been a problem, however i do notice that with it trimmed, if i sit on the tailgate, it does have more flex than a stock bed, it has never actually bent on me though.....

I had mine cut like that with a tailgate and it worked perfect.  I loaded tons of crap in there.  If you bob it you can still leave that lower part there and the body will be much better off.  Ask lilbuddy about that one

So do I, I've only cut where I had no choice, those fenders were getting uglier by the run. I had to do something to avoid really tweeking them up, this next step is still in the thought faze I don't know if I'm going to cut or not, but they do get in the way a little. Not as bad as the front but still may suffer damage.
