Check this guy out for steel prices: http://www.complete4x4.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=26_28

He's on Pirate. His prices are great even shipped and the turn around was decent. As far as this tube sliding directly over what you have now, I'm not so sure. The steel you have now should be right @ 1.5" OD. The new stuff will be right @ 1.5" ID. You usually need a few thousandths difference so they will actually slip together. And that's given a brand new piece of 1.5" OD material that hasn't been beat up on the rocks.
I know when I built my traction bar (1.5" ID outer with a piece of 1.5" OD slip), I had to turn the slip section down .001 to make it slide inside.

So when are we gonna see you in a toyota cruising to The Springs?
Next year for sure!  :hyper:  Considered it this year but it just wasn't gonna happen... I started my build thread (again HAHA), granted it won't be a sick over the top build like yours or some of the others here as I still plan on DD'ing mine to work and other events.   Nonetheless, it will be fun to make the trip!  :eyebrow:

buy your steel from brads work.  He will beat ANY price and i mean that and you wont have to pay shipping.  we've probably bought well over 400 ft of tube from him and saved major money

I tried to fit 1.5 inch hrew inside my 2 inch .250 links and it didn't fit at all.  i tried beating it in and i even greased them up before.  no way it would work.  I get steel prices pretty good through my work.  i got my 2 inch .250 for $205 for 22 feet.  no shipping either.  I still have like 6-8 feet of it left too.  let me know what you want and i can check on the prices now.

Brad, did you try heating up the outer .250 links first with a torch and putting the inner links on ice prior to it?

How is Kyle? I never heard anything after that?

He cruised out with locktup and I believe they went to Georgetown. Camo apparently bailed because we didn't see him on the trail.

As for the links, I didn't expect it to be a direct slip on but i'd imagine I could use a buffing pad or grinder to cut it down just a tad so it would fit. Brad i'll be giving you a call as soon as I figure out exactly what i'm going to do and how much I need.

slabcs, once I saw your avatar I remembered! It was good chatting with you, the rig looks nice. Looks like it performed well you went in and out of the trail a few times with no probs.

We left the Springs at around 9:00 and was at the trail head at around 2:00... thats 5 hours with a good 3-4 stops because of break down/trail clog. We made pretty good time.

Team Ramrod do you have any strength information on this industrial plumbing pipe?  never heard of it.

no info on it, rick(brads boss) was saying something about locktup running that for all his links possibly but I could be mistaken

Jason was going to redo his rear links with the 3/8's thick pipe.  i am not sure if he is still planning on doing it.

And i didn't heat up or freeze the links before itried, i was in a hurry to get them back together.  i am not sure if it would have made that big of a difference.  i did try and grind down the 1.5 inch a little with a flapper wheel but decided it was going to take too long and ditched that idea.

Went down to Fishmouth Fabworks today and Dan's truck is just AMAZING!

He's getting me pricing on some 2 1/4" and 2" DOM to resleeve the links.. and some seriously beefed heim joints.

As soon as I hear back the progress will commence further.

I'll also be doing a few things to the upper link as well, pictures................................ eventually!

nice RC Crawler Pepe!

Christopher the rig is making me jealous!

As for this thing, havn't done much to it lately w/ the traveling ect...

I'm waiting for Dan from Fishmouth Fab to get back to me on some information for the links. That'll be the next thing... BIG links..

I'm not in a big rush, I typically don't take it out that much in the snow (even though I should) .. GOTTA have it done for the Hammers this coming up year.

Look's like i'll need to get mine done a few weeks early so I can haul ass up to Infernal's pad and kick him in the ass (aka rush like a mad man making sure his MACHO TACO is finished!!!!!!!!)

so not much as been done on the rig but the warm weather is coming and it makes me ambitious to get back on this project.

soon i'll be remounting the beadlocks because two of them have small leaks and it'll be going down to Fishmouth Fabworks for some re-tweaking on the links.

probably just sleeve them for now with bigger heim joints @ the frame.

we'll see.. .

pic's soon ...... eventually...
