Spring mounting Question
« on: Mar 28, 2006, 09:26:20 PM »
OK, this is regarding Marlin's springs and the front hanger.  I had thought that it was designed to just torch off the stock spring mounts and weld the new mount on directly under the front core support/frame brace.  Then I noticed these on BigMike's build page:

So I'm now thinking this is the correct, intended way for this to mount?? Obviously the first way (what I was thinking)would give it more lift, and a different caster angle.  What advantages/disadvantages do the F-Toy mounting style have??

I think you probably named the disadvantages with limited lift, worse pinion angle and weaker frame.  I'd go with under the frame either way, seems like it'd be stronger.

??? Maybe I wasn't clear.  I don't have pics of they way I thought it should be mounted, but I was thinking, weld the bar to the bottom of the bar that looks like this:

But obviously, with not so many holes.

That way would be cool with a flat pitman arm and rotated knuckles, if not, your caster will be way off.
I think that is the F-Toy
