OK, I haven't updated anything in a while, so heres a teaser.
Sky Mfg. dual case skidplate(thanks Brad!), still no front driveline, but I have started on half doors :hammerhead: I have gotten to the point where I need to buy steel, so I've kinda slacked off on 'em.

Thanks.

Change of plans.  I spent about 10 minutes in the shock book at work and found these:
# 94198 shocks

stock rears from 97-04 4wd F150s.
Compressed Length:15.625"
Extended length:27.250"
Travel Length:11.625"
Trim a little off the lower mount, and it'll fit right into my stock mounts, and it's about perfect for my 22" ride height. Not exactly 12" Bilsteins, but they'll work for now!

:hyper: They'll be here in the morning!

how much did those shocks run you?

how are you rigging up the latching mechanism?

I was wondering the same thing.  not sure how you're doing the doors, but we wound up cutting out most of the inside metal, and sheeting it and the top with 16 guage.  a 4x8 sheet cost me $60, and I only used about half of it.  The doors are sturdy enough for me (260lbs.) to stand on the top part without flexing the doors at all   To work the latch, I just bent the bar on the inside to the new position on the door, as you can see in my pics.  Later I am going to add some speakers to the doors.

I dunno why it would look familiar  :_oops:  Yeah, I ripped you off a little bit, I don't like half doors that are just cut flat across the body line.  I *plan* on removing the window rail right above the latch, and using the stock latch on the top section.  It looks like it'll work, you just hafta put the drivers latch on the passenger door, and vice versa.  I wanted to put the latch on the top, but I cut down too far to make that work.
I plan on plating the whole thing in steel as well, I just thought it would be easier to leave the inside of the door there.  How close was the 16gauge to the stock door?  I haven't decided what thickness to use yet.

BLACKDOG

The 16guage was a little thicker than the stock stuff, but not too much thicker.  Was gonna get 18guage, but the place only had stainless sheets :yikes:  didn't want to spend that kinda of $$  I like it though, they're kinda heavy, but they don't flex or bend at all.

initially  I was gonna leave the stock inside there as well, and just cap the tops, and they recut the interior panels to fit, but brandon convinced me to it this way.  Makes it a lot easier to match the sides, so you have a more even top surface.  Doesn't do anygood keeping the interior part anyway, because once you skin it, you can't weld onto it, and if you use 16guage, you don't need the additional support it might give you anyway

See, I already got the sides to match(Ithink).  I dunno, we'll see what I end up doing.  Thanks for the info, Jason.

OK, finally got my 4.88s in the rear axle.  Big :beerchug: to MeanOkie for doing it while I was at work today.

This thing is SCARY with these gears.  I had forgotten about the heat this thing has.  Time for new tires. :hammerhead:

edit:  shawn, vehicle speed calc. shows I went from 1.17MPH to .98MPH in 1st double low. :dunno:

Duffil

Another one of Shawn's great ideas.  :screwy:  "were gonna do your front axle tonight."  :thud: just got done swapping in the front 3rd and rebuilding my front axle.  Going to get driveshaft tubing on Weds.  It does kinda help to have someone that's motivated to get :pokinit: done, though.  Getting closer...to...  :sleepy:

Got myself a V6 4-pinion third today...I traded a 4.10 4cyl third straight across.   It need's gears, but I can deal with that.
Got my exhaust redone as well...my cat had hollowed itself out, mostly due to the carb dumping massive amounts of fuel, I am sure.  It doesn't sound like a ricer anymore.  Time to pull my spare carbs out and build one.

Picked up some seats today from a 95 Runner in Morgan Hill.(thanks Jeff)  Trans took a :pokinit: about halfway home.  Anyone ever see the extension housing crack/break where it bolts to the transfer case?  I drained the rear case when I made it back into town.(I might add at this time, that the Manteca Krank-On Auto is good only for ripping you off and being open on sunday)  Damned NAPA was closed :teeth: The case only had about 1qt of oil in it.  And that exhaust was brand new.
