Picked up some seats today from a 95 Runner in Morgan Hill.(thanks Jeff)  Trans took a :pokinit: about halfway home.  Anyone ever see the extension housing crack/break where it bolts to the transfer case?  I drained the rear case when I made it back into town.(I might add at this time, that the Manteca Krank-On Auto is good only for ripping you off and being open on sunday)  Damned NAPA was closed :teeth: The case only had about 1qt of oil in it.  And that exhaust was brand new.

I thought you worked for NAPA  :smack:

I do.  I was in Manteca.  I live in Oakdale.  NAPA in Manteca was closed.  I put on dark glasses.

No really, though...I had to walk like two miles to KrankOn, then I hadda go and get more tools after I got back to my truck...Home Depot was closer.  Shitty thing is, I did all that and the trans was full, I couldn't get the fill plug outta the tcase.  So I did everything for nothing and ended up just coming back to Oakdale.

MiniSimp

Shoulda just come over to my house, you were a whole 20 minutes away. :yesnod:

snowshoebrue

same here or i could have come and got you with the trailer.

Duffil

Kyle: I don't know where you live.
Justin: I thought about calling someone with a trailer, but I figgered the hell with it...let it blow.

MiniSimp

PM sent, if you need any help, just ask.

AAA  :dunno:

:usa: :beerwhack:

that's nice if you have it, but still quite expensive, and only tow a certain # of miles

not worth the :twocents: for me.  only things that have ever happened:
cut down a tire on 99, I was like 17...momndad's AAA :haha:
lost the clutch hydraulics, like 18...floated gears all the way home
freakin' trans broke...23...drove it home.

If I was accident prone or not mechanical, then yeah, I'd get it.

If you're a "plus member" you can get towed up to 100 miles for free and it will work if your driving a rental or even if it's not your car all together  . Doesn't have to be your vehicle specifically, just as long as you're with the vehicle when you have the emergency. Has come in very handy quite often. You get 4 tows a year per member per household. Between my wife and I we get 8 for the year. I've used this more for other vehicles than for my own. So far have never used all my tows for any one year. Plus they have their own DMV services (with some limitations on things they can do) at their office locations so you don't have to wait in line at DMV  :eyebrow:. I too have not had many mechanical failures or accidents. Sometimes it's late at night and you just don't want to F with that stuff then and there and with no other way to get it home you're stuck trying to fix it and with no parts stores open you're just stuck. Stuck sucks. Not to mention then you can work on it at home so it's not cobbled together with roadside crap  . just my  :twocents:

I am not very good at MIG.  I can, however ARC and Oxy like a m*****r.  I am not afraid of them; I've never had one of my welds break.

CrazyYota

looks good mabe you can weld my sliders on :gap:
>Chuck Norris invented black. In fact, he invented the entire spectrum of visible light. Except pink. Tom Cruise invented pink.

boggerunner

im the exact opposite, i cant arc to save my life, im all about the mig, what kind of  mig are u using? i have the lincoln 140C

Duffil

It was a FirePower 200 amp unit.(FP is the b*std child of Victor and Thermodyne)  It actually lays down beads very well, I am just too inconsistent/don't get enough practice with a MIG.

Duffil

If I owned one, I don't think I would have issues.  I was using the shop in front of my work.  All my stuff is stuck in storage cuz I am in an apartment.  I don't own a welder anyway, though.

 OK CALM DOWN EVERYTHING WILL BE OK  :willynilly: WE WILL WALK YOU THROUGH IT when you MIG weld just slow down a bit and turn your heat up  and watch the puddle just like stick welding YOU CAN DO IT. the concept is the same just different way of going about welding I know you can say this or that about the wire as compared to the stick but 'cmon you heat up the metal and fuse it together with metal  :smack: not brain surgery

thanks.  I was gonna mount it further forward and use grade 8 (rather 10.9, metrics) and just drill thru both sides, but I was short on room.  This shouldn't really affect shock travel too much, I hope.
