??? What is the taper of a fj80 tie rod end???

Im wanting to redrill a scout pitman arm to fit my FJ80 tie rod ends.  Im trying to find out what the taper is?  anyone know?? I cant find it!!

When I did my insert I found it to be 3*

That seems to be the best fit for me.

I used the compound on the lathe at 3* and checked it with Prussian blue.

That was the closest I found.

drill it out and use an insert, that's what I did anyway.

Yup Drilled out to 1" and spun up an insert to weld in.

If you can find a 3* ream you may be able to do that if the hole is not too larger already.

I was just planning on welding shut the exsisting hole and redrilling it with a 3* taper bit

The weld will be kinda hard to drill unless you anneal it first. I think the insert is the best way.

marlin sells the tapered adapter for about 21 bucks shipped I think it was. the taper is .75" for every 1.5'. so 1 inch tall arm would only open 1/16" from 9/16" to 5/8". I am going to be calling around looking for the tools to buy. If marlin would chime in and tell me where he got his so i can buy one....it would be awesome of him *hint*
