Did the hood arc the pos and neg battery terminals? it wont do anything now, i tried jumping it but nothing, no fuses blown....what could be wrong? -any input would be most app

its most likely a fuse or a fusible link somewhere, there are huge fuses that dont look liek regualr fuses under the hood, its also possible you freid some wiring

I'm not 100% on the '82, but on my '81 there are 2 fusible links coming right off the positive battery terminal.  They look like either one or two short section ofwire going into a green hardshell connector.  The single wire fusible link should be for your headlights and the dual strand should be for everything esle.   Call your Toyota dealer to order them for you, and they run about $15-$20.  Its not a bad idea to have a spare since the truck won't run without them!  Try to figure out what caused it to melt in the first place before you replace the fusible link. :shocking:

i got a new battery cause the old one went completey dead, had it tested and all, got a napa one, the only thing i can think of is that the new one is taller than the old and the hood could have arched the two terminals..??? if this happened, is my battery toast? and would the fusible links and fuses still be fried if this (the hood touching pos and neg) happened?  -thanx for your help

Mine went POP once...it was the alternator...fried the battery and the big black fusable link.  Replaced all 3 and she is good as new.
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5
