Trimmed fenders and bigger tires
« on: Feb 20, 2006, 11:36:44 PM »
So i just put some 33-12.50 wild country sxt mud terrains on my 79 toyota. i had to trim the front fenders and i rub in the back of the front fender well at full stuff. so i am going to get some f-150 springs for the rear and move the toyota rears up front. Its a decent start.

just get 2 inch shackles from 4wheel online. cost you about 70 bucks.
I'd like to quit thinking of the present as some minor insignificant preamble to something else~~~~~

Get a BFH for the inner fender, even with a lift when the suspension cycles you'll still rub.

you can try sky'd front relocation plates wich make it to where you dont have to beat the hell out of the fender well and theyre only 20 bux! moves the axle forward about 3/4 or 1 inch..... depending on wich way you place them. worked for me.

the 150 springs in the rear will give you a bit more lift, about 4 inches,  but unless your going to go histeer you cant move the axle forward yet :therethere:  sorry

i trimmed the rear of my fender as Rocksurfer said with a 3 pound sledge,  after removing the rusted pieces i replaced it with new sheet metal

untill you get hysteer  this is your only option,
besides cutting your drag link  or adding a body lift

now  a 1 1/2 -2 inch body lift is fine but dont go over that  or you will have other problems

It doesn't matter where you get one, just get one that works properly.  :twocents:

If you move the axle forward an inch or so, that should eliminate the rubbing. I've been running with a 4" lift and the axle forward 1" and no rubbing at all with 33x12.50 BFG MTs.

The hysteer is a great upgrade and will make everything else work out well, but in my experience rears in front doesn't work well by itself...get ready for a little domino effect action.  Plan on building a dropped front spring hanger to keep your pitman off your springs, boomerang shackles, long travel front driveshaft, extended brake lines, and new shock mounts and shocks before you can expect it to work correctly.  But don't worry, it's worth it.

The 88 to 97 body style I believe, most trucks I see with them have years hovering around 90'.

For the f-150 springs i'm not sure of the years, but they are 2.5" wide and i believe they have to be out of a 2wd i think...somebody want to let me know for sure??
