Hi,
I live in Tucson, Az. I have a wrecked '88 Runner, that will donate a fresh really hot 22re, the rear axle assy and the tranny/tcase to my "new" truck a '85 xcab pick up. I freakin' loved the 4Runner, it was the first real project I had ever done. Now it sits, a victim of a cell phone using "woman" in a brand new Excursion...she rear ended me at a stop light, I was stopped she was going about 55mph.
Before the wreck I scared myself on some local fire roads, I was doing about 65 or 70 got off the road and almost took out a tree! I'm old enough (and wise enough) to know that I don't heal as quickly as I once did...so I decided to give up the fast stuff, do a SAS and learn to crawl! The wreck saved me the trouble of doing the swap! I'll search around for any info I can find. Add my input, if I feel it would add something. My first question is...I have the 88 tranny/tcase, do I getanother 88 era section to add in  or can I add the crawl section from my 88 to the 85 tcase and still have it bolt behind the 88 tranny? (did that question make sense?)
Thanks,
Mark

Hey Glen,
I've done a bit of study since I posted here first...I'm pretty sure I've got the basics down.
I got a pretty serious concussion out of the wreck, but it could've been a lot worse.
I'm getting ready (this week! woohoo!) to lift my 85 and do the hi-x-over. The next major mod will be the crawler and drive shafts. Then I'll swap in the engine out of the 88.
Have a happy Thanksgiving!
Mark

As with most of us I hate big government  and wish they would stay out of my business and my pockets, but something has to be done about the damn cell phones.   I have had so many near-misses it's not funny.   :smack:
