Just on that shot.  There were a couple of tippy places but for the most part it was just a fire road.

I'l post up the series of pictures fro you.

I'd love to see them.

My family used to frequest the trails in that area when I was growing up.  One trip we followed a tour Suburban down the back side which was interesting.  The tightest corner was at least a 10 point turn as it was more narrow than in recent years.  The switchback cut on the up side was fun in my 85 truck with 32's and stock gearing.  I could only make it to about 1 truck length from the top without powering out, not the best place to back down.  When I was little you could climb the back side (it was 2-way) and more narrow.  It was a good challenge for a stock family rig.

Hey Wyatt, does DeMello offer a SAS kit for the 05-09 Taco's?  Im seriously considering doing my 07.  Awesome rig btw, it has inspired me to do something with mine.

Thank you on the comments of the truck.  I'm glad it has inspired you.

We don't sell a kit per sey as we feel that each conversion has it's own unique set of challenges based upon the parts one choose's to use.  We do have the link lengths, can make the mounts farely simply and have the mounting points.  There are just too many options to really have a viable kit, however we can help you in your swap.

We feel it is easier to swao these newer Taco's than it is to do the older ones because of a number of thing that don't have to be done to them like you would have to on the older Tacos, and my truck has shown that it can take some pretty tight trails regardless of the bigger size of these newer Taco's.

PM me for our number as I do not want to post it on Marlins board.  Wouldn't be cool to them.

Mind sharing with us, what makes you guys feel that way and what the difference is?

Sure.  First of all, the oil pan on the earlier Tacomas need to be change to a rear sump set up from the front sump that it comes with sock.  On the newer Taco's the oil pan is tucked way up and only has a small portion of it that actually hangs down and is already at the rear of the engine instead of at the front.

Secondly, the frame kicks up about an inch higher than the older ones and the bottom of the engine is notched on the drivers side which allows the diff to tuck up closer to the motor than it does on the older Taco's which allows for some awesome flex.

Thirdly, because the rack and pinion on the newer Taco's is in the front of the axle instead of in the rea of the axle like the older Taco's the steering link is not pointed straight down.  Instead it is angled towards the front of the truck so you dont have to redo the fire wall point of entry for the steering.

Last.  The radiator does not hang down below the front cross member like it does on the older Taco's.  It's protected better on the newer trucks.

So, there you have it.  Since we have down both the older Taco's, the new Taco's and the FJ Cruiser, we feel it is easier to do the newer Taco's and FJ Cruisers than it is to do the older Taco's because of the area's I have outlined above.

Now, That being said, it dosen't neccessarely make it a better swap, just easier.
