Aside from my main truck, I got another little 4runner.  This one's an 87 with IFS.
Instead of the standard molestation, I was thinking to keep this guy LOW. 

So here's the outlook:  Cut the fenders, put big tires on, lock it up, and armor-up that belly.

I picture this thing "dragging" itself over obstacles, just scraping and sliding on the armor underneath. 
A low-riding rig that drags itself on it's belly and refuses to roll-over...

Am I high?

dragging usually leads to tires not touching the ground which means a decrease in traction  which means stuck

Well, if you can fit 35's on a stock 3rd gen pickup I don't see why not, still think you're going to drag yourself into a very stuck position though.

I drag all the time and I have 4" lift 33's and unless it is just a passing touch it usually stops me in my tracks. Once the tires get light on traction it usually means forward motion turns to spinning tires.

Go 38's and you won't have too much of a problem dragging.  but that means a lot of fender trimming/tubbing.

Fuel injected, a dry-sump with 44's and you could run it upside-down, just watch out for that rock headed for your windshield.

Here's a shot of her, pretty as she is...for now.

I don't have a problem with destroying the body on this thing.  The engine is a champ, tranny solid.  Shocks are cooked, ass sags(what do ya expect?  in "Yota years", this girl is 57!).

For the first time in my life, I have a garage.  Thank you thank you.  It feels good to finally join the club.  It's also got a little shop attached.  Plus, I'm single again - so I'll have the time, the place, and the lack of bitchin to git R done!

Dragging to get stuck, not quite what I had in mind.  Gotta think of something.

Just need a little perspective...  If nothing pans out - oh well, it was a fun thought.
