ok guys im in a delima i cant decide if i want too run 39.5 13/15 iroks bias ply or run some 38.5 16/15 super swamper boggers. there both the same price and ive ran boggers my whole life and i really like them but i like the iroks looks and have heard good things about them. i will be mounting them on some marsh racing wheels 15/12 36 bolt beadlocks with 3 inch offset on my runner.
Give me some info on what you guys think about these too tires the pros and cons and all that jaz.
i havent got too compare them side by side yet but i plan on doing that soon.
I usally run in the mud rocks and trails here in oklahoma im not a hardcore rock crawler i like too do it all but muddy loose trails are what im usally in so let me know what you all think?
thanks

If you didn't make it, and it ain't broke, you didn't try hard enough.

I'm goin' to try IROK's next. I've ran boggers(37's, 38.5's) The irok's seem like they might be a little better on birf's than boggers

But then again I run rocks NO MUD IF I CAN HELP IT!
That's how I roll

Are the IROK's lighter tires?  The only two ways they could be easier on birfs is less weight and less traction.

I can't imagine anything outperforming Swamper Boggers in the mud  :dunno:

Damn I love Tire threads.

If all you run is rocks and avoid all mud then the Irock would probley be a better choice than the bogger.  It will have more sidwall flex, and more lateral traction especialy when its wet.

I know what your feelin, I cant decide over a bogger or tsl.  :smack:

Thumper

thanks for the info so far the boggers are about 10 pounds heavyer then the irok so im looking at 40 pounds off my axels. im just gonna have too compare the 2 side by side and see what i like better i guess.
keep the info comeing thow.
thanks

I  boggers, they're a dream in mud.... But I think the IROK's will last longer and perform better on rocks  And the Boggers aren't very street friendly.... ask me how I know :disturbed:

Lot's of ways to compare the two for sure.  For the mud:  hands down the Bogger! ;)   Overall driveability and handling:  the IROK.  :yesnod:  Easiest on the drive train:  the IROK.   the most fwd. traction: the Bogger.   As fas as which one will last the longest ....might be a toss up ... the IROK do not have real deep tread to start with, not even close to the Bogger but the Bogger will wear WAY fast! :)

Bottom line:  I think both tires are awesome so roll the dice and have fun! :beerchug:

Agree, my brother used to slide sidways on rocks all the time with boggers, while I would go up and over them with silly BFG Mudterrains.

mud=TSL BOGGERS!   rocks and hard terrain=I ROKS

Well that is my personal view. I really like wide tires and the boggers are sick. the iroks are pretty sweet but i think if i were running in muddy trails i would for sure get some boggers.

MiniSimp

Yep, lateral traction sucks unless you cut them.
Boggers are also a lot heavier than iroqs.

wats going to last longer a swamper SX or an irok

My friend hade Iroks on his Full size balzer, and every time I see them they seem to be worn more and more.

You can almost expect the same life out of any bias swamper to be the same.  The Irocks also seem to have less tread brand new than any othe bias swamper.  Just my :twocents:

I just got a set of iroks last fall. I have never run boggers and this is the first set of bias tires that I have ever owned.
Observations:
They ride worse than a radial.
They grip better than my old procomp mt's
2 took over a pound to balance
GREAT in the snow
I like them. BUT this is not my dd. I compared them to a set of tsl's and they do have less tread depth. But I love the coolness factor of the scooped lugs.
You have a Jeep?  That's cute.... So does Barbi.

Go with the boggers in rear and iroks n front..why not?? what ever happeened to running boggers in back and swampers in the front? sell the pair you dont like and you'll be done  :_order:

Some people dont understand why you would actually do that.

It is quite simple, boggers have better forward traction than a TSL or Irok, therfore the bogger is used in the rear where the most amount of force, load, and power will be put.  You run the TSL or Irok up front, it is easier on your front axle, you have more precise steering, and TSL's or Irok's help you hold a better line than running a bogger up front, because it gives you the lateral traction a bogger cannot provid unless it is cut.  Which i a whole differnt story.

Some may argue but i have seen rigs with the combination and it works.  Never seen it done on a daily driver but it's somthing to experiment with.

Suprarunner

I run a 39.5 Irok on my runner. I have never cared for boggers on rocks. No latteral traction, heavy, and the lugs tend to really bounce around leaf sprung vehicles!

I chose the Irok's for the weight, they work GREAT! the only problem I have with them is that they're kinda ugly to me and they wear down quickly. My personall favorite Swamper is the SX, it's just so dang heavy and they don't offer it in a 39.5 or 40" size.

burnyota

true there..it used to be more common with boggers in the rear and swampers up front.....back to iroks...its seems that they wear quite fast, especially for a dd, but so do boggers....but can your buddies hear you comming down the road with a set of boggers...hell yash...i still like boggers

I will mostlikley run some boggers on my truck, not sure if i want 35's or 37's. :???:  I guess we will see what fits.

crapyota

ive ran my boggers for about a year and was a dd they have about 13000 miles on tehm and they still got more to go. know my opinins are i like the big wide look so the boggers there, the traiks here  that t run are more mud and tree roots and stumps so the boggers by far exceed the iroks here.they are heavier but tough .now as for on the rocks if i was there more i would go iroks.no good side hill traction like everyone says sometimes they just plow forward rather then turn in sharp spots on muddy trails but the key word is plow forward the boggers just want to keep moving my :twocents:

I've never run the Iroks but some of the guys I wheel with do and I have seen a lot of side walls cut down.   They seem to do really well though otherwise on the rocks and are a lot lighter than the boggers.   Their mud traction leaves a bit to be desired.   I currently have 37/13-15 boggers and they are really good in both mud and rocks at going in a straight line.  Their off camber stability isn't very good though and in the mud it is impossible to get out of the ruts.  I've heard of people using a groover to split the lugs into two smaller ones but I have not tried it.  I also like their sidewall strength.  Their sidewalls are a bit stiff though which is both good and bad.   Bad in the sense that it takes a few trail runs to break them in so they flex and good that I can run them with no air pressure and they won't flatten out unless all of the trucks weight is transferred to one tire.   They are however really heavy and I really noticed the difference switching from BFG muds to the boggers.

Both of them SUCK on pavement, even the IROK radials.   If you do any street driving don't waste your money because you'll end up leaving all of the rubber on the pavement.

but what is the best tool to use can i use a  saw

Toymin8r

you can use a sawsall.  Take a blade and grind off the teeth.  Then sharpen the edge.

You can find tire groovers used on Ebay pretty cheap too.
