Let Me Introduce Myself
« on: Jan 21, 2006, 06:35:42 PM »
I just bought my 1985 EFI Xtra Cab Pickup yesterday. I have been registered on this site for the last month reading as much as possbile. Good info you have here.

I also drive a 04' SRT-4 as my daily driver. I moderate 2 other forums includiing a WRX forums, since I used to own a 260whp WRX at one time.

I will try and search as much as possible before I post questions. And thanks for having me.

Oh yeah, here's a pic of my new truck.

You had a 260WHP subie? Not too bad. I'm all stock around 210 or so with the new 2.5l turbocharged motor. I would think the SRT4 would be a step down. But I am not going to start that debate because you know and I know there is no end to that discussion, it is like the Jeep vs. Toyota argument.

Yes, the SRT-4 was a step down. But I bought a house in the process. I needed to part out my baby in order to save up for a house. So I bought the SRT-4, saved up a bunch more money, and purchased my house last year. I was going to buy another AWD vehicle, and test drove an 06 STi and an EVO 8, but wasn't too impressed for $30k. So I kept the money I was going to throw away on trade in and down payment and bought the truck instead. And if you need any info on your WRX, please join clubWRX.net . I moderate part of that forum and there is a lot of information there.

So you have dynoed the new car? The 260whp I ran was on the EJ20, on 91 octane, at 16psi on a VF22. It was a very conservative tune. Car was fast, but I wanted a house instead.

I have also dynoed the SRT-4. With 2 mods, a WGA and full exhaust I ran 245whp/275ft. lbs. trq. Larger turbo, possibly 50 trim coming soon.

Thanks guys for the compliments.

I have had it for a week and I have already started modding it. I put on a fresh set of 33" BFG MT and a different rear bumper.

Here's more pictures of it from today.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to diss the SRT-4 it is a pretty quick little car, glad you were such a good sport about it.

Getting there. The previous owner added the 63" Chevy springs right before I bought the truck, but left the stock Toyota spring mounts just in case I wanted to go back to them later. But he had not tried to flex the truck at all after he installed them. I went up a sidewalk curb at my buddy's house last week and the Chevy spring hit the stock mount. So I need to get hold of an angle grinder or something like that to take off the stock mounts. Then its wheelin time. And pics.:)

Also, this isn't the first Toyota I have owned. I also had a 94 4Runner a few years back. It had BFG 31.5's, Rancho's, custom Flowmaster catback, K&N Intake. Unfortunately, the recall on the headgasket did more damage than thought when it was fixed and it started to suck a valve until I traded it in for the WRX.

My friend and I got the original Toyota Leaf spring brackets grinded off today, so it was time to finally try doing a little wheeling. Went to go for some poseur shots first.

And us after a little wheeling at the local Junior College. Trucks aren't dirty enough though.

Right before these shots, the campus police came driving up asking if we were going offroad at all. "No ociffer." As mud is dripping off the undercarriage of our trucks. LOL!
