I was putting my old VHS onto DVD and now that I have even more programs to play with I was able to turn some of my DVD video into stills. Granted they have to be a little small or they look even more crappy than they are but here's a few retro pictures of the original Marlincrawler.  These were taken at TDS in 1996, almost 10 years ago!!!! I can't believe it's been that long ago feels like it was yesterday. You will see some young kid wearing a maroon t-shirt...... can anyone tell who it is?

i see on the side of the truck it say dual transfer case, was marlin the first to run them? i imagine he was the one to come up with the idea so i assume the answer will be yes but im just wondering.

That's pretty funny!  My boss brought in his whole collection of old 4by magazines, and I was thumbin through em (on break time ofcrouse) and found a pic from about the same time of Marlin's truck going down a waterfall.....driven by a young BigMike!  I was tryin to figure out how to post it up, but maybe I'll try taking a pic of it and see how it comes out.

Here Marlin is letting his truck drive away while he stands outstide chatting with Steve Miller and my brother Scott. I guess it's not going very far at 1,047:1, at least not very quickly.

khm, achem...RS, if Marlin is only dual-cased here(ane we assume he is, it says so on the truck), he is NOT at 1047:1...that is only acheivable with Triple Cases. :yesnod: and, BTW, are you entertaining offers on your MC DVD stash?

Well according to the video (Marlin) that truck pictured is 1,047:1 maybe when he was refering to dual cases back then he was only refering to his cases and not the original Toy case that came with the truck? :dunno:

Oh, no not really I was just playing with my new video editor and thought you guys would like to see the old and original crawler. Granted the current crawler is also the original, I figured you guys would want to see what his truck looked like when he 1st started out with the crawler or shortly there-after. If I could post the video I would but I just now put that old VHS tape on DVD and don't know how to post a video on the net.

That truck had 3 cases 2 of Marlins and 1 of Toyota's, I don't know why he had Dual on the truck. He had also experimented with 3 of his cases and 1 of Toyota's but that as he put it, it was useless, but if you ask him why he'll tell you because it can be done.

You're right. Jeppa Sport and Benny's Automotive in Iceland were the first to come out with the dual case. Marlin talked with them and took the idea and refined it. Marlin IS the first with the crawler gears.
In '96 i'm pretty sure he was runing dual 470's (459:1) That was just a a year or so of after I got his original set of 470's from him. I installed his old tcase in my truck one night while he was building 2 new 470 cases with his newly designed quieter gears.
(if he did have triples in his truck in those pics, he must have just put them in, because he put "DUAL, TRIPPLE TRANSFER CASES" on the side of his truck when he went tripple.

Anyway, brings back good memories. I remember Mikey when he was just a little turd.
