Any Snowboarders on here?

I am going somewhere out west to go snowboarding for x-mas, sometime at the end of Jan. where do you recommend? Jackson Hole? Colorado? Where? I am VERY experienced so that isn't an issue(10yrs).

This is my 11th year so I'm in the same boat. I'm from Alaska but I'm attending WyoTech in Laramie, WY and I've made two trips to Steamboat Springs, CO which was awesome. I've also been to Squaw Valley which was excellent. Breckenridge is also goos but big lift lines. Anything else you need to know?

Whistler/Blackcomb is in Canada BC http://www.whistlerblackcomb.com/index.htm They usually have some really good packages. In 2001 we went for about $950 air,shuttle,condo,lift tickets for a week. Don't know if they still have any killer deals like that going on but you can check.
Mammoth is in Cali, good terrain and I have a season pass for that place, so thats why I like that place. http://www.mammothmountain.com/ I think the website is down for now, but check it later.

I've kinda wondered about how much of a load snowboarding puts on ankles compared to skiing but my current hobbie seems to overrule any attemps at giving it a whirl.  $$$

Mammoth or June was always great right after a good snow, and just about anywhere in Colorado or Utah, mmmmmm Utah.

you should just hit lake tahoe..... there's plenty of resorts and you can try a couple out. In tahoe i'd recommend, northstar, sugarbowl, alpine meadows ( their suppoed to have a full terrain park open), and squaw valley ( the olympic place).... in that order

one more thing.... the lift tickets in tahoe dont cost as much as in whistler. 40-50$ a day comapared to 73$at whistler.

edit: your coming from NC..... o, you could try like 4 or 5 resorts if you went to tahoe, you just need to rent a car and drive from resort to resort and it'll probabley be the same price as whistler
Also... if your into gambling tahoe is spilt between cal. and nevada, so you can gamble

Whistler/Blackcomb is also rated one of the BEST ski resorts in North America and its HUGE!!! I was there a week and rode everyday and I don't even think I was able to ride 10% of the mtn.
The lifts are walking distance from all the Hotels,condos/studios. As well as 99% of the restaurants, clubs, & bars.
The second run I did there was 20 miles long according to the locals we rode with.

Tahoe is also fun. I think wherever you go you'll have a good time!!

id say tahoe area of colorado whistler/blackcomb is nice really big and wide open havent been there in a couple years but i hear its still a blast. anywhere everone is recomending is good you could even check out mt.hood in oregon thats a awesome place too and there is also mt. bachelor about a hour away form there too which is an awesome place as well pretty low key there wasnt to many lift lines when i was there it was ncie but a very big mountian well worth the trip

Mt. hood is awesome..... wait til summer tho, i think they have snow in the summer and you able to go snowboarding in the summer

I'm not a snowboarder, but my wife has always claimed to be one.  She went yesterday with some of her friends to Big Bear.  Before she left I told her I wasn't going to be carrying my personal cell, just my work one so if she ended up in the emergency room, call me on that number.  I told her this as a joke!!

Anyway, I went wheeling all afternoon and around 7:00, I get a call, "Ya honey, I'm just getting out of the emergency room.  I thought I broke my wrist, but they said it was just sprained."   

I think no more snowboarding for her.

I started snowboarding when I was 8. Whistler/Blackcomb is really nice I suggest it highly. Never been to Tahoe, maybe that will come next winter.

i dont mean to threadjack, but has anyone been to whistler for downhill mountain biking.... i heard they have sick trails, drops and a solomn ( sp) course

Yeah I have tested the waters of DH biking. Never at whistler. I went up there once as the seasons were changing from spring to summer and saw some DH bikers but mostly just flat ground riding. Downhill is expensive....

im a backcountry person and the only place out west ive been was utah. i spent 3 days at snowbird and loved every second of it, parck city was a zoo and full of kids and moms, snow basin was sick and had killer out of bounds riding and short lines. i spent a half day at brighton wich was sad cus there was lots of killer stuff i didnt get to ride (i went back country snowmobiling instead). my dad has ridden tahoe, crested butte, jackson hole, and wistler and loved all of them. check arround in local super markets and stores sometimes they sell discounted tickets and ask if you can get a student discount if your in school, every little bit helps (more money for beer after riding).
