I ordered a tranny last night for my wifes 84 extended cab. She's a pretty mellow driver and won't be thrashing it, but longer tranny life and better gas milage would be a welcome bonus.

Should I break it in on dead dinosaurs and switch to synthetic?

Break it in on and stay with dead dinosaurs ?

Start and stay with synthetic from the very beginning?

Which brand would you use or which brand don't you like?

I would break it in per Marlin direction and then run Redline synthetic oil.  I think that BigMike said that the stiff/jerky characteristics of the transmissions when cold go away with Redline.  I would run it in mine, but it isn't worth the investment and I suspect it would leak with synthetic as it may be leaking now with dino.
