Marlin 4.97 gear set install quastions
« on: Aug 01, 2005, 07:34:21 PM »
Hey I am having a hard time figuring out what to do about all the snap rings.  They are pretty bent up from removal and I would like to replace them all. The problem is that Toyota says they are all different thicknesses and marked accordingly.  So what should I do about the new gear sets that also got new bearings?   Should I worry about getting a snap ring that is the right thickness or just put on the same size that was on the old gear set?  Also does anyone have a picture or part number list for the snap rings i need?  I am having a hard time Identifying stuff on the crappy little print out picture that the toy dealer gave me.

Thanks

BigMike

Wow, I've never even known that they had different thicknesses.

I have built hundreds of t/cases, and we just have a bin with a thousand inspected good used clips, and we just throw a set on and get on with our lives.

I would say to mic your clips, and get that same size. To be honest, I have never had a clip that was to thick and would not fit, so I suppose you could just go with a thickness that is in the middle of the range that they provide.
