front shackles

how much longer can you make the front shackles on an 82 with the stock steering?  or how much can raise the front (shackles, springs etc.) while keeping the stock steering?

I've gone as high as 6" with the stock setup, 5" is about as high without having to mod your d-shaft on the front.  If you do it you should consider also getting an adjustable draglink with a drop in it. You can adust it to return your steering wheel to center  and you will eliminate the bump-steer.
