Wireing Harness
« on: Nov 15, 2005, 09:27:00 PM »
I am swaping motors right now and am frazled. ???

I am taking the motor a 22re out of a 91 2wd truck and swaping in a 22re out of an 85 4wd.  I have noticed that the computers are different and the fuse block under the hood is different.
The 85's computer has three plug-in ports and the 91 has two,  also the 85's fuse block under the hood is shaped like an "L" when the 91's is rectangular.

My question is;  :headscratch:  Do I need to remove the entire electrical from the 91 and install everything from the 85 or is there an easy way around it.

you are going to need to switch intake and some of the sensors because if you look at your fuel injectors the plugs will be different.best to do is set the motors side by side and just switch the parts over that are different. have done it many of times. good luck

If it's only the motor you want, then it's only the motor you need to swap. I you want to change the intake, then yes you will need to swap over all the wiring for the 85.

It's also a question of money...if you go to Painless Wiring Solutions they'll have a plug-n-play wiring harness for you, lots simpler but it's too expensive for some wallets. Just trying to give you another option. :twocents:

My problem is the 91 is missing alot of stuff for the fuel injection and trying to piece it back together would be a pain in the arss.
