stock lockers?
« on: Nov 10, 2005, 07:08:12 PM »
so i was looking at buying a 1988 toyota pickup and the guy told me the rear was locked, he didnt wheel and he didnt put a locker there and he said he owned the truck since it was new. I passed up on the truck because i didnt like it and i bought a 93 4runner. The 4 runner is stock and when i turn the rear wheels chirp. I was wondering if toyota offered a locked rear diff. any years?  any info would be great. Thanks.

for the US market, there were no factory lockers until the taco/4runner were offered with them.  i know other countries could get an available LSD though.

My 91 pick-up came factory with a limited slip and 4.56's. My limited slip was pretty tight and would spin both of the tires fairly easy. If I was on dirt or pavement where the tires had equal traction it would spin both. It was not until I was on rocks that it allow one tire to spin easier.
