Would you, with all things considered, convert to propane?

Yes
No

Now that I'm ready to buy a motor for my truck, I've been looking into converting my truck to propane.  I've seen pictures of propane trucks running sideways, upside down, rightside up, inside out.  Propane is even safer than gas.  Conversion kits are roughly $300 and tanks extra.  Even though its environmentally friendly, the problem is that there are no conversion kits that are C.A.R.B. legal or even street legal in most states.

For my Environmental Analysis class, I have to make an EIR (Environmental Impact Report).

I'd like to know, that if laws were more lenient to people like me, if you would convert to propane?

MiniSimp

If my truck was carburated,....probably....but it's not, so I have to say no.

If I could convert to propane and my truck would still be legal in CA. I would have already done it. I've been thinking about converting the generator on my motorhome to propane since it already has a tank and for the most part I don't use a full tank in 2 years.

I plan on converting mine in the next year when funds alow.  I wanted to do an efi swap but decided it would be harder and may even cost more.  But i don't plan on driving my toy on the road in the next year, it will be green stickered.

I said no, but only because Its A) not legal and B) you can't get it everywhere...

I want to know where the 300$ conversion kit is  :headscratch:
If you still have control you aren't going fast enough

Gearhead Wiki

I vote no but only because there is no kit for the 22R that you can use both gasoline and propane like many other systems.

I'm pretty sure kits do exist for the 22r for dual fuel.

I would have but I like to drive to the trails and back.  If it was a trailered rig, propane in a heartbeat.

Gotpropane, which is the most obvious choice lists the EFI propane kits as being Propane only. Thus if the text is correct that would mean that the 22R kits are dual fuel.

I also asumed something but just the opposite. Becouse dual fuel systems are/can be dot approved and Got propane's kits clearly aren't, I assumed all their kits are propane only. :headscratch:

Thus the text is wrong I guess. My bad.

I would convert in a heart beat. I'd bump up my compression (it's 11:1 now) to probably 12-12.5:1, next step up one the cam and do some more head work.

i thaught cary at got propane would build custom kits he could probably do a custom one off dual fuel kit for a toy

Blingn

my buddy uses pane, he got a kit from the ups i believe. he runs it in his 302 eb.  he also said that he gets a tax wright off for it.  When he used it on the trail it sucked only because he had no gauge to tell him when it was getting low he ran out, and because the rigs behind him had to smell his rig and it smelled like :moon: , but it ran good and it is california legal.

I have been looking for places to read about this conversion for my20r. any suggestions?

toytank

for wheelin its cool but swap over to carb is the easy way i just cant see doing it.even if street legal i believe just the demand for it would make prices get way out of hand just like fuel+ gas. so id have to say no
