Would a V6 third be better as the front diff or as the rear?  I have one and I don't know if I should weld it for the rear or buy a locker for front.

typically you would want the v6 in the rear cause of the bigger bearings,  and most toys will lift a rear tire befor a front so if only one locker put it in the rear

If you plan on pulling the front axles I'd put the V-6 up front since it is easier to pull the rear and update it later with a v-6 also. If you are not going to mess with the front just put it in the rear.

On this note...anyone have any info on welding a v6 third (pics etc.)  I chose to put it in the back because we do a lot of climbing and thought the back would get worked harder.

What i do not know about putting a v-6 rear up front! Thats a crazy idea, you should put the v-6 3rd in the back because its strong and put a fj80 or hypinon front up front for better clearnace and their tuff. THats what i think.

The V6 3rd is stronger than the 4 cyl 3rd so puting one up front is better than a 4cyl, but yes a HP up front is the same as a V6 3rd except it has the gears cut for front duty. Has anyone striped a R&P in a front 4cyl? If not a V6 would be even stronger.

I have broken a 4 cyl tooth off the ring gear and that is why I'm putting a v6 in   :dunno:  if it was a fluke or what.   Thanks for the link to the welding one.
