So what happened?  Driveline bolts come off/ break?  I have had my driveline bolts break going about 50mph.  I slammed on the breaks and locked up all 4 tires.  scarey :pokinit: right there.  I guess i kinda know what you went through.  But it didn't do any damage to my truck.

If you look at the rock you can see two grooves that are like 2" deep from the shaft spinning on there before it snapped.  You probably can't see them in the pics but you will definitley see them if you look next time your up there.

I cant see the pics, but i have a friend who busted his rear driveline going 55 and when it broke it bounced up and down hella hard and messed alot of stuff up on his under side. haha same kid blew up his third member driving down the road once. He said he was just driving and his rear end just locked up.

that was bad, i was right behind him when he did it.  I had to pull him back so he could turn around.  He turned around pretty good with only front wheel drive.  That thing was a gonner.

Who'd a thought to carry spare shafts...

Where you all wheel in the US of A, getting home might mean 50 miles or so; here in Honolulu, we worry when we break down 2 miles from the highway!

I think that kid had more like a 8 or 10 hour drive home from the rubicon.  I am going to make a spare driveshaft pretty soon.  Also my front has enough travel that if I really had to I could use it as the rear shaft.

I have spare shafts for both ends. You cant tell from the pictures, but the flange off the t-case is really warped. plus the third member is missing a chunk from its flange. $130 later it was in my driveway.

I got my trail driveline and my street driveline.  Trail driveline is 1/4 inch thick sch 80 i think and is not ballanced.  Street driveline is just regular and is ballanced with a new u-joint.  Street driveline has no vibrations at all.  trail driveline starts vibrating at about 30mph.

I don't know if he drive home in front wheel drive or what.  Last i heard he was looking for a driveline there.

NUb is my brother.  He stole my rear drive shaft for the drive home.  My baby was trailered home.  We took off from Rubicon Springs on Saturday night so we wouldn't have to hold up everyone on Sunday.  He got stuck on Cadillac Hill pretty early because he only had front wheel drive, and since he had a V6, he decided he gets my rear driveshaft.  We hooked up a tow strap and towed my rig out of the Rubicon because then I only had front wheel drive.  It was no bueno.
Relentless

You two were lucky you didnt have a hand setting on the hump or it have been a mess. Thats some scary :pokinit: right there...coulda been worse though if it caught the pavement. Is that a myth or could it happen? Ya know the d-shaft catapulting a vehicle if it caught a spot on the road?

I did that once too in the mud here. It pull the splines apart, fell to the ground and stuck in the mud. I wound up driving over it and broke the cv off.
