That is a VF1A Chain Drive T/case, however I do not know the W59 tailhousing pattern by memory, so you'll need to count the number of splines on the input coupler to find out if its from a 4cylinder or a V6.

4 Cylinder: 27 spline
V6: 23 spline

I am pretty sure that if that's from a G58 (late 80s - early 90s 22R-E), then it'll be the same as if it was from a W59 (1995.5+ 3RZ-FE)

I don't think that 4.7's go into a chain drive case, am I right?

4.7's will deffinetly not fit.

I got it open, I'm wondering why Marlin couldn't just make both the chain gears small with a shorter chain though?
It would reduce the entire case, but it is feasable. :dunno:

I have no idea what you are looking at inside the case, but usually one gear gets larger and the other gets smaller to change ratios, like a bike.  I think if the two gears are both made smaller proportionally the reduction wouldn't change?  :dunno:

:hammerhead: Yeah I didnt notice that BigMike said it was a chaindrive. Oh and I think BlackDiamond is right, one gets smaller or larger to change the ratio. Either way I think it would be something fun to mess around with. See what you can do with it. :yesnod:

the chain in this case only engages the front drive,  it doesnt have anything to do with the gear reduction

Yeah, the only way I see to reduce it, is to mess with the planatary gears. That would reduce the entire case though.

So what you want to do is just make the front drive lower than the rear? That's awesome! Then you could just put 5.29s in the rear and leave the front with stock 4.11s :gap:

Actually what I did was take a sledge hammer to it and recycled the aluminum!
It was fun!

:yesnod: I love getting money for garbage! I have taken aluminum intake manifolds, heavy copper wire w/insulation stripped, massive brass bearings, etc. and come home with some good money. I got an eye for that shiat. Its fun when people look at you with all that "garbage" in the back of your truck and they have no idea. :rofl2:
