Last Minute Preparations before MCR4
« on: Sep 06, 2005, 08:29:04 AM »
Im sure im not the only one going thru this, but post up what major things that may keep you from attending the event.

Ive got a big one..... I somehow busted my transmission housing  :yikes:  :yikes:  :yikes:

How did this happen? Im running a 4.3L with a 700r4 with lots of torque, and somehow two out of 4 bolts that hold the downey adapter came loose, and busted the rear of the housing.

After frantically calling around, found Hollies father (I cant remember his name, you know the guy with the big white and blue chevy) had one sitting around. Dean, Bruce and I met them at the pic a parts in fresno to get it from him. He told us he had the same problem and after busting a couple of housings himself, was able to make a bracket to stop this from happening. So we took some pictures and will be making the bracket for my rig.

We will post some pictures up later. Hope to get the tranny swapped over to the new housing and in the rig before Saturday. Still have lots of other things that need to be done.

Um...I gotta get my axle in, sliders, and locker

I busted a brake bolt T in my axle so I have to somehow get it OUT before I can hook everything up :smack: I dunno if you'd consider that major :dunno:

Need to rebuild my engine, the damm thing just locked up and I found oil in the water. What do you think the possibility of me finding a good SD22 by tomorow and getting it  :scared: soon enough to install? I sheared the 4 studs off the top of the passsenger side knuckle last weekend at coyote so I am going to do a total rebiuld of both knuckles and install the Bellfields I just got.  I also want to fix the problem of always blowing a fuse in the rear running lights.  The light problem wont keep me from the CON but it is annoying so I want to fix it.

No, I should be there.  It wasnt final till just recently.  I will be cruising up will Dean on thursday afternoon.  I had to get somethings taken care of.  I also had to get my wife comfortable with the trail.  I bought a Tent-Kot since she dont like bieng on the ground. It basicly is a cot with a tent around it so you are off the ground, and since I heard it is going to be pretty cold up there I just order cabelas adam and eve   0 degree double sleeping bag.  She dont care if we are in the middle of the dessert on a horibly bumpy road as long as she gets a good nights sleep

Whell, the tranny I got to replace my busted one is the wrong year, so the housing is too thin and will brake easier.

What I think im going to do, is try to find another one by Monday, and the Tranny guy said he can get it done monday by noon. If that happens, I could have it in by monday evening. If all goes whell, I should be able to go, but if not, Whell!!!!!!!

I just have to finish welding the supports on my sliders, and the front cross-member support. Then re-install the bumper, winch and lights. I'd like to re-inforce my grill a bit, and while I've got everything else apart, I may just get it done.

Then it's just packin and gettin...
