:headscratch:  You trimming the whole fender off???
mark what you want to trim, tape it off, apply cutoff wheel.

Hmm, it does seem that you truck guys have a bit less to work with than our runners...
You could always cut the door and the panel for the filler neck to match the fender line, then weld in a little triangular piece where you cut the filler mount.  Then just trim the filler door to match and wala!

yeah I know what you mean, I trimmed all the way up to the gas door, but I sen people just cut through the gas door, I might do that soon. Or you can re-direct your gas hose through the bed and cut what you want and then welld the gas door shut.  :beerchug:

I'm running into this problem as well.  I'm going to be trimming the rear of my 3rd gen and I'm going to look around and see how others have done it.

I just trimmed it right to the bottum of the lid but I think I am going to cut more and just cut right through the lid.  I was checking out and it shouldn't even look bad.

yah I like it to.  funny thing is I got pulled over for mudflaps when I hit a 2x4 going down the highway with a cop behind me and launched it into the air and he didn't say anything about the front tire sticking all the way out of the fender

Like a mud flap wouls stop that 2x4 anyway! Stupid cops. I like the way you trimmed the front fenders too. Definatly cool. If I do any trimming to my bed im going to just cut the gas door. Might have to do some "custom" mounting for the filler hose.

I cut right along the body line of the fender where it starts to bend down so it still flares out a little then i swooped it down and ran it about1.5" behind where the body line is on the bottum of the fender.  Here is what I cut off

I wonder how that would look on my third gen? I really like that look, its clean. Not all gaudy like other hack jobs and it definatly keeps the tires outa the fenders. Now you need to come up with a nice cut for the rears.

I used a cut off wheel to cut it. and rocks hurt good I have a picture of a third gen cut like that and it looks good.  actually I think I can post it because it is already resized.  Yah I like the cut I did on the rear fenders but for some reason they look crooked on the computer.  I only wish i could cut some more.

That does look clean, I think I have seen that somewhere on the net before. I am going to have to figure out where to place my blinkers after I do that cause I aint gunna keep uhm in the stock location. 37 MTR's is what I am going to run and by the looks of it you can stuff the hell out of them and never have to worry about touching sheet metal. I personally dont like the bed cut short so I am going to just have to see if I can make the well bigger. I know of a trick to widen the  wheel well area to give it a little flair. I have done it on a ranger but i havnt checked to see how easy it is to do on a toy, I'd imagine just the same. I wish now that I had waited and bought a 85 cause I like the body lines on them better than my 89. Oh well. Looks clean, lets see some pics of it getting dirty.

that truck is dirtyskivies on this board and boogerweldz on pirate.  my tires actually didn't hit the fender before I trimmed because of my shock bump stops but I crushed one pretty bad and I liked how it looked cut so I dug in.  Havent taken this truck in the mud yet but hears my last truck ten minutes after doing the suspension steering, gears, still 2wd

I love first gens, now for some reason that bed looks alright with the bed cut behing the tires. For some reason it doesnt look good on the second and thirds to me. I am going to have to relocate my gas filler I think cause I plan on takeing a bit out. I am going to follow the original body line but just cut it about 2 maybe 3 inches higher. Are those F-150 shock mounts on that first gen?

f250 I think, I got them from foothill offroad for $15 each or something.  both my trucks were bought already cut and I probably would not have cut them my self, and definetly would not have cut so much off of my 2gen because it is cut way above the bottum of the tailgate line and it would propably look bad with one on.

:hammerhead: yeah F-250 thats what I meant. I was really planning on buying marlins kit for my SAS but money is soo hard to save right now so I am thinking again about scrounging my own parts and doing it. Im think junkyard springs, f-250 shock hoops, may even build a hanger instead...I dunno for 199 I may just buy the cheapo kit from marlin so i can do the hanger and tubes right. So far I have a front axle waiting to be rebuilt, bald 37 mtr's, welded 5.29 third for the rear and thats it. Im gunna go with an aussie in the front. Someday...someday.

how I build my hangers they are probably stronger than marlins and alot cheaper.  I am running a two inch lift shackle made by performance acsessories that was under $50 new so my suspension was really cheap.  also I have the jigs to cut the holes for your frame tubes if you want to borrow them.  i got them from marlin.
