anyone running one? I got the caddy compressors and I got a powertank but for the price it might be nice to just get one of those compressors and be done with it.

Dammit man I may wind up doing that to mine some day, I guess I need to make a snorkel for it before hand.

I am using the one that is for the air lockers and so far so good, but I have heard it won't last if you use it for pumping up tires.

If you run a larger storage tank, the Caddy comp. will work fine.  I originally ran 3 of the Caddy comp tanks along w/1 Caddy comp.  This worked fine, I could get about 5-7 activations before the comp would kick on.  With all the fittings tight, the Caddy would come on about every 15 minutes.  I have since fabed up a 4"x8" tank(you can buy 1gal. tanks for about $60) cylinder and use it with the caddy comp.  It takes the caddy about 35 seconds to fill the tank, and I get 15+activations before the comp. kicks back on, and without as many fittings  the comp only runs about once an hour.

I fab'd up a unit for a buddy using a 3"x7" tank using a Superflow MV50 comp. from Kragen for his OBA and ARB's.  The little MV50 comp. run anywhere from $25(online), to $44(kragens, Pepboys, etc.).  He is able to fill his 38's from 3-15 psi in about 35-40 minutes.  I am also using one of the MV50's as well to feel my tires, with a 2-2gal tanks, it takes me abot 45 minutes to fill my 33's from 3-35 psi.  I run both comp.'s and the 4'x8' tank in a box in a 27'x9"x14" box in the back of my truck.   If you aren't limited by space, the Mv50 is a good deal for the price.
