OK, I searched on this, but didn't turn up much.  I am woking on a 79 yota that need the wheel cylinders rebuilt, and I have all of the things to do it.  I jeed need the wheel cylinder...  Do you have to have the bearing asembley pressed off just to get it out of there? or is there a trick to getting it out of there?  Thanks for the help!

Take the tire off and the drum.  There are 2 bolts behind the backing plate that hold the wheel cylinder on.  After you take the brake line off and pull the shoe's back or take the whole brake shoe assembly off you can take the 2 bolts off the wheel cylinder and your done.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

Hey WT, I've been helping him with this and we can't get the Wheel Cylinder out between the backing plate and the axle shaft where the studs are.  We got the Wheel Cylinder unbolted but it won't fit between there to get it out.
Any other info would be much appreciated.
Thanks WT for the quick response.

Oh yea, Its been awhile since I worked on a narrow housing....  There are (4) 14mm nuts that hold the axle shaft in the housing.  Pull them off and give it a kick from the inside of the backing plate,  it'll fall out. ;)  While you'ge got the shaft free id replace the axle seal too.

You've already taken the shafts out of the housing and the wheel ylinders still wont come out??  Normally there is enough movement of the backing plate ont he shaft to allow the cylinder to come out.  Sometimes there isntthough so you get to spend a while playing with the cylinder till you solve that rubix cube. ;)  It is possible both ways though, its a biotch sometimes.

Yeah, no doubt. But we enjoy hitting things 'til they come apart or out.  So, no problems there.
Thanks WT
