I bought a detroit from someone for $50  :king: (they said it was bent :headscratch: which i doubt) anyway a little while after I bought it I rembered that it was in a V6 3rd member :smack: so...

How do I tell if it is actually a V6 detroit and they didn't just stick a 4cyl one in there, if thats possible

And....If it is a V6 carrier can it be used in my 4cyl 3rd?

help :shudder:

I think the only differance is the bearing size for the carrier, they are larger on a V6 & high pinion. I am sure you can use it with 4 cyl gears in a 4 cyl third so long as you use a special bearing set that Marlin sells. Get a second opinion before you go down that road.

It will work, you just need to buy 2 timken bearings, part number 32010x.
