There needs to be wiring kits for a 3RZ swap. I would do the swap but I dont know or like wiring.  :outtahere:

I agree, the ors kits are over priced.  I think one should/could be available for much less!

Ya I seen ORS's kit. But a marlin one would be sweet. Support the turtle! I would prefer a bolt in kit.

Why not run the natural cold air intake?

what it wont pass smog with that intake or what?

Of course not. This is California....................WHERE THEY WOULD RATHER CONTROL YOU AND MILK YOUR MONEY INSTEAD OF ONLY CARING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT.

California smog law requires that the intake must be kept stock between the first electrical device and the throttle body.
And the first electrical device is the air temp sensor located in the bottom of the stock air box.

Just look at his smog report on the previous page. HOW MUCH CLEANER IS THIS NEW ENGINE COMPARED TO THE 28 YEAR OLD CARBURATED ENGINE AND LOOK AT HOW MUCH GARBAGE WE HAVE TO GO THROUGH TO MAKE THIS "SMOG LEGAL"

THE CALIFORNIA AIR RESOURCE BOARD IS A BIG HOAX, IT'S SOLE PURPOSE IS TO CONTROL THE CITIZENS.

man that thing is the shizzz... i scored a rolled 998 runner for 300 bucks and am affraid of the wiring. i am contemplating making the gauge cluster fit somehow into my 85 hahaha. maybe the whole dash. i am still searching but i havent seen much on the second gen swaps with the twin coil pack ignition system... my 3rz looks good in the back of my tundra but not nearly as good if it was in a running. some help with the schematics and basics would be nice

swapping the whole harness doesnt seem that bad but what about splicing the 85 dash components into the 98 runner harness. i have mixed feelings about swapping the dashes i dunno swapping the dash would be easier but i like the 85 dash it is grey with not one crack.

grab anything and everything you can. I got the whole truck for my swap and I swipped everything! every single wiring in that thing along with clutch slave, master, lines, fuel lines etc. just in case. never know what you will need once your in there.

I like my 85 dash and going to keep it. you should be able to sit down with a factory wiring book and sort your wires out to the ones you need. get rid of the excess stuff and clean up the harness. its time consuming to do right but IMO making it look like it belongs is just as important as having it work correctly.

I was just like you back in 1999. Then I said F it. And tore the entire dash, wiring harness out and all of the AC, blower box and even the crossmember out and tossed it. Then put in all the taco stuff. Really dont make this harder than it is, F the old stuff including the gage clusters and what not. Just put the whole Taco stuff in. I've dont it and was the first todo so. (Sorry for tuting my horn) but really its not that hard. IN FACT ITS EASIER THAN WIRING. Trust me. Let me find a pick and post'em up.

I dont believe it is different for the motor, I believe its different because of the Judge you happened to get that day and wether or not they got laid the night before.
