my hilux buildup in germany...
« on: Jul 19, 2005, 12:04:56 PM »
Hi @ll

first off all soe info´s about germany, we dont have aftermarket parts like u guys in th US!!
if we want something we have to built it
there are about 5 or 6 highly modyfied hiluxe in germany, so information is kindof rare.

then the prices in germany are killer!!, there is a companie that sells a bodylift for a hilux, and it costs :1184 €
thats around 1300$ !!!! :shocking:  :shocking:

dont beliefe that? look for our self : http://www.extrem-motorsport.de/fahrwerk/bd-bodylift.html

anyway, i wantet to do a few things to my hilux, so i had to build it myself.and it had to be cheap

on my page u can see my hilux as it was @ the end of stage 1 : http://www.hilux-freak.de/

it had 35" (rubbing like sh1T
3" bodylift
longer shakle in the rear
"custom paint"  :hammer:

please remember, it is/was a hilux from 1987 with no rust, bodydamage and costet 4000$

ok, let it start:

first thing, tubing the fenders :

ok, had not enough power to weld it nicer

did some anti rust stuff on it ( like tar) and that was done

than i wantet to do something against the lack of power ( had 90hp)

a 7mge that i bought for 200€ (230$) it was full of grease and had a broken bearing
but everything i needed was included

here the bearing that was broke :

repaired it for 30€

than i pulled the original motor without a motorlift, and put it in the back of my subary legacy and gave it away ( that is now my dd)

well than i saw that i NEED a motorlift to put the 7mge in, becouse my 4banger was heavy, and the 7m would be heavier  :gap:

motor did fit, and i just hat to tweek the motormounts of the 4Y a little

i raised the tranny becouse i wantet a flat belly

the 7m sits very low to compensate the wight of the tranny that now was higher

than i startet the flatbed :

reroute the exhoust and made some driveshaft spacers :

i had to change the shifter :

than i could drive for the first time!! dang that was cool!!
but i still had/have a lot to do

this is how it sits today :

if u look closely in the fist pic u can see the fans, the are from a audi TDI :

i still need to do some crossbars and stuff to get some strength, but its a start.
i know i have a few construction failures in the design of the flatbed, but heck, bether than nothing

ill keep u updated....

ps,just to tease u:
in germany u can get unimog axle´s for 200$ a piece!! so mayby..........

Hey c'mon guys he obviously speaks english and he is probably laughing at the poor translations those websites have. Trust me. I once tried to impress a foreign exchange girl that was German, what a hottie  , anyway she just laughed at me and told me if I'd have asked her in plain English that she would have gone out on a date with me. The translations were pitiful. BURN on me! :smack:

Yeah but sometimes it is fun to try to learn a few phrases and translating into german may just make this guy feel different. I think that having a little fun with him is pretty good though, and he hasnt said anything about feeling like we are being racist or nationalistic or anything.

I doubt he feels like that at all, I agree its fun sometimes. Hey Sid do you live anywhere near Ramstein AFB? I have heard it is beautiful out there. Is there good wheeling where you live?

Hallo Sid! Kuhler LKW, Wie fuhrt es TUV zwar?

well i dont have tüv...  :driving:  before i started the motorswap i drove it as a dd, if the cop´s stopped me, i would loose my driverslicence
tüv sucks  :chew:

Hey how bout them tires! I ran those on my Dodge Ram. I liked them, ran pretty good and they were cheap too. The toy is really looking good especially with your limited resources over there. Nice color choice
i like those tire´s too, they arent that expensive here ( 180$ ) we dont have a lot tire´s in those sizes here in germany.
jeah, the color is nato oliv, from great brittain

Nizza toyota. Lassen Sie uns irgendein Tätigkeit Foto sehen. Es schaut sehr nett. Ich denke, daß ich Ihren LKW auf www.wildyoats.com gesehen habe. :bananasplit:
yeah, i was i few time on wildyoats!!
i dont have any actionpic in this building stage, only a few older, ill try to find them.

Woher in Deutschland sind Sie? Meine Großmutter ist deutsch und ich bin dort 3mal gewesen. Übrigens schaut LKW gut. Ich tue das Tauschen 7MGTE auch
i am from stuttgart!! but i am born in holland! where in germany have u been?
i know that u are swapping the 7m, i read about it on supracharged!
good luck, u will like it!!

Hey c'mon guys he obviously speaks english and he is probably laughing at the poor translations those websites have. Trust me. yeah, those translations are weard, but it is understandeble.. the words are correct, but the sentence isnt.
and dont worry, i dont feel weard or bad or something like that, actually its kind of nice if somebody tries to speak an other language !!

I doubt he feels like that at all, I agree its fun sometimes. Hey Sid do you live anywhere near Ramstein AFB? I have heard it is beautiful out there. Is there good wheeling where you live?

well ramstein is a bit furter away, i have been there a few years ago as the airplanes crashed!! i am near the european army command headquarter in stuttgart.
i go there every 4july  :usa:  :usa:  i love it there, good food, nice people and country music  :beerchug:

well, beautiful... hmm the grand canyon, texas, arizona, utah and stuff like that is beautifull, but germany... no i dont think so.
there is nothing over here that america hasnt bigger or bether

the wheeling isnt very good also, we are not allowed to go in the forest, there are no trails like u have, we need to drive a few hours to go to a  quarry
and we have to pay, and than we can drive. its muddy, we dont have rocks like u have.
but if u have a lot of people its fun also!!
