Heres the reply I got about this area:

"It isn't open yet. The guy is just looking to see what kind of response he would get if he did open it.

I'm pushing him on the idea, but he thinks it would be too much trouble and for too little income.

I've seen his property and I would love to 4wheel all over it.
Just like I said in that starter page, "rocks everywhere"

I told him to open up a RV park, consession stand and parts and repair shop and then charge each vehicle access to the Rock Crawling area. Sounds like he could make money to me.

I'll keep working on it."

Hopefully this guy will open it up!!  :crossed:

Here's what Steve replyed on his wesite today, sounds like he wants input on the plan:

We are in the process of doing the business plan right now.
What I want to do is run some of my cost estimates by potential customers like you and see if they are reasonable.

Just off the top of my head, if I were a customer, what I would happily pay for use of this location:

$20/day --- RV Hook-up
$40/day --- rock crawling access per vehicle
$10-20/day --- ice, sodas, hotdogs, hamburgers, t-shirts...
$0/day --- repair cost because I own Toyota's

Totals for a Friday afternoon to a Sunday afternoon:

$40 RV
$80 Rockcrawling
$30 Concessions
_______________
$150 weekend

So.... $150 per vehicle per weekend x 30 vehicles = $4500 Week

Multiply that by 4 weekends = $18,000 Month

Add in some weekday usage and you could safely say $25,000/month.

How does that sound? I know that you really need to see what the rocks look like to make a real decision, but if the description on the start-up website is accurate, are we on track?

It's going to be a HUGE investment and we need to show how we plan to pay it back and how long it would take.

This is just a first, very rough, draft to run by you guys.

Next we will figure our investment/start-up costs and then operating costs.

   Sounds interesting. I haven't done a man made trail since we went to the Wooden Nickel Ranch in Menifee.  That was fun too, but I heard they stopped doing rock crawling there for monetary (ie. profit) reasons.  I imagine the liablility is the sticky part with these facilities.  I hope they open it...sounds like fun.

I agree, it would have to be as good or better than the "HAMMERS", for me to pay more than $10-15 bucks, thats and extra 18 pack of  . Depending on where in S.D. it is, it would probably  take me roughly the same amount of time in driving.
