Lunchbox locker install problem-cross pin removal
« on: Jul 13, 2005, 01:44:14 PM »
I need some help here.  I'm trying to install a Quick lock in my 4cyl diff.  I have it all apart and I can't seem to get the cross pin out.  There is a little pin that holds it in and I've tried everything to knock it out but it won't come out.  Does it only go 1 way?  or does anyone have a suggestion on how to get that dang pin out?

Let me know before I start flipping out...

thanks
Greg

I use a small punch....If I remember right...it does go out only one way.  Look at the two holes carefully.  Seems like I remember one is halfway covered...you can get a punch in there but the pin goes out the other way.  Hope this helps.  BTW...get a bigger hammer!
You have a Jeep?  That's cute.... So does Barbi.

I had that same punch that is in the picture and it broke off.  At least I know which way it knocks out more.  I'll buy another punch and get my big hammer out now and see how it goes.  I'll let you know what the result is.

thanks for the help :qtip:

I just used 2 2X6's like in the picture and knocked the thing right out.  it definately got a better hit on the pin when you set it up like in the picture (than in my vise).

thanks a lot guys....
